Webinar: Hospital EP CMS Requirements

Each additional phone line will be billed at the LHA Member/Non-Member rate. Advance registration and payment is REQUIRED to ensure delivery of instructional materials.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE: This webinar is intended for general acute hospitals, including Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (JCAHO) and Det Norske Veritas (DNV) accredited hospitals, non-accredited hospitals and CAHs, and their staff such as CMOs, CNPs, nurses, case management staff, discharge planning staff, quality improvement staff, JCAHO/DNV liaison staff and others responsible for ensuring compliance with the regulations.

OVERVIEWOn Sept. 8, 2016 the Federal Register posted the final rule Emergency Preparedness Requirements for Medicare and Medicaid Participating Providers and Suppliers. The regulation went into effect on Nov.16, 2016. Healthcare providers and suppliers affected by this rule must comply and implement all regulations one year after the effective date, on Nov.15, 2017. The Emergency Preparedness Requirements for Medicare and Medicaid Participating Providers and Suppliers regulation outlines four core elements that are applicable to all 17 provider types, with a degree of variation based on inpatient versus outpatient, long-term care versus non long-term care. This webinar will review the interpretative guidelines, including the four core elements covered in the final rule that hospitals must have in place to meet CMS compliance for emergency preparedness.

OBJECTIVES: At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe basic policies and procedures to comply with the regulations and interpretative guidelines;
  • Discuss required training and exercises;
  • Describe the latest updates to CMS interpretative guidelines on emergency preparedness; and
  • Discuss the most commonly-cited emergency preparedness deficiencies.
